As night falls, the Darkness ( Mike Patton) - an ancient demonic force which has inhabited Jackie's bloodline for generations - violently manifests and massacres his pursuers. On the evening of his 21st birthday, Jackie is targeted for assassination by his "Uncle" Paulie Franchetti ( Dwight Schultz) out of sheer paranoia that Jackie is after his position as the Don. The player takes on the role of Jackie Estacado ( Kirk Acevedo), with the story presented through narration by himself. Thus, making a fourth Evil Dead movie was always an uphill battle. Finally, there were the rumors of how director Fede Alvarez's 2013 remake fit into the larger Evil Dead universe, bolstered by a post-credits appearance by Ash. Evil Dead, he was unable to refer to events in Army of Darkness until he had worked out the legal details. As Sam Raimi was developing the television show Ash vs. Army of Darkness, the third entry, was more directly tied to its predecessor, but legal issues with Universal Studios over the film's rights led to further confusion in the future. The entire Evil Dead franchise has embraced fluid continuity ever since Evil Dead II, which retcons the events of the first film and thus is as much a remake as it is a sequel. ![]()
